Johnson ended up sitting out the first half of the Heat’s back-to-back set Thursday against the Hornets, but his availability Friday should put him in good position to open the season as a member of the team’s frontcourt rotation. Derrick Williams will likely pick up the start at power forward in Tuesday’s regular-season opener against the Magic, but Luke Babbitt and Johnson figure to both receive time off the bench, with the latter representing a more defensive-minded alternative.
