Jameer Nelson: Sits out Sunday for rest

After playing 16 minutes in both of the Nuggets’ first two preseason contests, Nelson took a seat Sunday as coach Michael Malone cleared the way for Emmanuel Mudiay and Jamal Murray to cover all the minutes at point guard. Malone hasn’t formally clarified as much, but it’s expected that Nelson will open the season as the third-string option at the position. While Nelson’s on-court contributions will be limited, he’ll serve as a mentor for the 20-year-old Mudiay and the 19-year-old Murray.
