Barea ended up missing the Mavs’ final two preseason games with a hyperextended left elbow, and although he seems to be progressing as expected with his recovery, Carlisle may need to see how he looks in a full practice before keeping him active in the regular season. Seth Curry would likely take on a larger role with the second unit if Barea is sidelined in the short term.
