The Wizards have been careful to manage Mahinmi’s workload since he returned to
action earlier this month after requiring injections back in December to ease
the pain in both of his knees. He played no more than 15 minutes in any of the
Wizards’ four games before the All-Star break, and it doesn’t look as though the
team plans to overextend him much further for the next several contests. Even
once all of Mahinmi’s restrictions are lifted, he’s unlikely to surpass 20
minutes in most games anyway, given his status as the backup to starting center
Marcin Gortat, who regularly plays 30 minutes.
