The Miami Heat (47-33) took care of business in a 118-96 win over the Orlando Magic (34-46) on Sunday.
This game was meaningful to one team and not the other and that was evident with the on the court result. The Heat just slowly took it to the Magic, as they won all four quarters and took a 20-point lead into the fourth. Miami's offense was on point, as they shot 56 percent from the field and recorded 28 assists on their 43 made baskets.
Orlando had very little to play for here and they simply didn’t play well in this meaningless game. The injuries to Victor Oladipo and Aaron Gordon were a huge difference, as their fill-ins really struggled. Evan Fournier did play well though, as he led the team with 21 points and five assists. Nikola Vucevic had a nice game too, as he totaled 19 points and eight rebounds. Up next for Orlando is a matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
Miami is only one game out of landing the three-spot in the east and this win was a big step to that goal. Hassan Whiteside got his first start in months and amassed 18 points and 15 rebounds in another dominating performance. Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng all scored at least 17 points in their win as well. On deck for Miami is a matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
