HEAT 108 – Magic 101 Game Recap

The Miami HEAT defeated the Orlando Magic 108-101 Saturday night at Amway Center. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each scored 24 points apiece for the HEAT.1. Goran Dragic Stays in Attack ModeAfter a little bit of a slow start for Miami, Dragic gave the team a jolt of energy in the second quarter. He aggressively attacked the basket both in the halfcourt and in transition, which kept the Magic on their toes. The Slovenian also looked to set up his teammates throughout the game.Take for instance this play with a little under six minutes to go in the first half. Dragic brought it down court in transition and penetrated into the lane. He then passed it to Luol Deng cutting to the hoop from the right wing. From there, Deng gathered himself and finished the tough layup over Victor Oladipo to cut into Orlando’s lead.Dragic continued to attack in the third quarter and also was very active on the defensive end. He raced back in transition to break up opportunities for the Magic and also did a good job of stripping his man driving to the rim. On the flip side, Dragic found the range from deep and went 3-of-6 from downtown. He finished the game with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, six boards and four assists.2. Bosh Keeps It UpQuite simply, Bosh continued his torrid stretch over the past week and did it all against Orlando. After knocking down a bunch of jumpers in the first half, Bosh took it to the rim a bit more in the third quarter. His versatility is what makes him so tough for opposing defenses and it definitely showed on Saturday night. On top of that, Bosh made excellent decisions with the ball and never forced anything. One play that stands out is an excellent pass he made to Beno Udrih for a 3-pointer as the shot clock was winding down in the fourth quarter. In all, Bosh grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists to go along with his 24 points on the night.3. Wade and Gerald Green Cook in the FourthWhile relatively quiet through three quarters, Wade did his damage in crunch time as usual. Wade buried a number of tough contested jumpers to help will the HEAT to a comeback victory. In fact, the captain scored 12 of his 24 points in the fourth on a very efficient 4-of-5 shooting. In addition to his 24 points, Wade also dished out six assists and went a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe for the game.Green, meanwhile, came up big in the beginning of the fourth to help Miami put a dent in Orlando’s lead. He nailed two 3-pointers, including one in transition that gave the HEAT their first lead since the first quarter. The swingman finished the game with 15 points (eight in the fourth) on 50 percent shooting.Game Note: Tyler Johnson (shoulder) and Josh McRoberts (knee) sat out.
