HEAT 100 – Bulls 93 Game Recap

The Miami HEAT defeated the Chicago Bulls 100-93 Sunday afternoon at United
Center. Goran Dragic led the way for the HEAT with 24 points.

1. Dragic Seals It

With the game getting a little too close for comfort in the fourth quarter,
Dragic led Miami to victory. In fact, the Slovenian scored 14 points on 4-of-6
shooting in the final period, with no sequence better than this give-and-go with
Kelly Olynyk:

That said, we can’t forget this dagger three that put the HEAT up 98-86 with
49.8 seconds left to play:

In addition to his team-high 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting, Dragic also had
three assists.

2. JJ On The Attack

Like Dragic, James Johnson went off in the fourth quarter and scored 11 points
on 5-of-6 shooting in the period. While he found success going right at Paul
Zipser, this and-one finish with Bobby Portis pulling him down was his most
impressive of the contest:

Earlier in the afternoon, Johnson set up his teammates with his usual screen
handoffs and played hard-nosed defense throughout.

When it was all said and done, the burly forward scored 15 points on 7-of-9
shooting, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out a team-high six assists and tallied
a plus-11 rating.

3. Ellington’s Arm Stays Golden

Remember Wayne Ellington’s sharp performance against the Timberwolves? Well, we
saw more of the same on Sunday. Naturally, Ellington led Miami with five made
threes, including this fantastic four-point play early in the second quarter:

Otherwise in the contest, the 29-year-old showed great awareness on a handful of
passes and competed hard on the defensive end against Denzel Valentine and
Justin Holiday.

In all, Ellington totaled 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting, two boards, two assists
and a steal.

Other Takeaways:

-Justise Winslow made some nice plays against Chicago, such as this nifty spin
and finish late in the second quarter…

…and this steal and score at the beginning of the second half:

Winslow finished with four points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Game Note:

-Okaro White (left foot surgery), Rodney McGruder (left tibia surgery), A.J.
Hammons (Sioux Falls assignment) and Matt Williams Jr. (Sioux Falls assignment)
were inactive.

Looking Ahead:

-The HEAT will now head to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers on Tuesday at 7:00
PM. Miami’s next home game will be on Friday, Dec. 1 against the Hornets at 8:00
PM. Tickets for that game at AmericanAirlines Arena can be found here.
