The Atlanta Hawks have sent rookie center Walter “Edy” Tavares to the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League.
The move was made under the flexible assignment rule, giving the 7-foot-3 Tavares a chance to get some much-needed playing time.
Tavares has appeared in only two of Atlanta’s first nine games, for a total of 2 minutes. He has been on the inactive list for six games.
The move was announced Wednesday by coach Mike Budenholzer before the Hawks hosted the New Orleans Pelicans.
