Whiteside had to leave Saturday’s game 3 with a knee injury and an MRI has now shown he’s dealing with a right MCL sprain. He’s currently listed as day-to-day, so we’ll have to wait for further updates regarding his availability as Game 4 approaches on Monday. It’s a good sign that he hasn’t been ruled out for Monday’s matchup already and considering the Heat are down 2-1 on the series, Whiteside may try and play through the injury if he can avoid a significant amount of pain. However, if the Heat doctors don’t clear him and Whiteside is held out, Amar’e Stoudemire, Udonis Haslem and Josh McRoberts could all see increased roles moving forward.
