The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Denver Nuggets at the buzzer on Tuesday, 108-107, at FedExForum.
For the Grizzlies (4-4), it was Marc Gasol who had the game-winning tip-in with just 0.7 seconds remaining on the clock. Memphis was lucky to be in that position, however, as that shot came off a steal with just over four seconds remaining and Denver seeming to have the game firmly in their grasp. After Denver’s Emanuel Mudiay tipped the ball out of bounds from Mike Conley’s hands, all it took was a simple lob pass to Gasol from the baseline to steal a victory on Tuesday night. In the end, Gasol had a solid outing, recording 19 points and six rebounds in 30 minutes, but it was the veteran Vince Carter who led the way, scoring a team-high 20 points off the bench.
For the Nuggets (3-3), it was another impressive outing for Mudiay, who scored a game-high 23 points along with seven assists and four rebounds in 36 minutes. Danilo Gallinari added 21 points of his own, while the other three Denver starters each recorded double-digit nights in the scoring column as well. It wasn’t enough however, as just 25 points from the Nuggets’ bench didn’t do them any favors as they fell short in the final seconds on Tuesday.
Up next, the Grizzlies will have off until Saturday when they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks, while the Nuggets will head home Saturday to play Golden State.
