In the third matchup between the two teams this season, the Memphis Grizzlies fell 119-95 to the Houston Rockets at FedExForum Saturday night. Memphis leads the season series 2-1 and is now 8-3 on the second night of a back-to-back.
Up four points (65-61) with 7:10 left in the third quarter, the Rockets went on a 26-7 run to extend the lead to 19 with 1:17 left in the period. Memphis struggled to close the gap and could not obtain the lead for the rest of the game.
Posting a game-high 32 points, Marc Gasol recorded his third 30-point game of the season and 12th of his career. Mike Conley also contributed 15 points and six assists. Coming off the bench, Zach Randolph scored 11 points and grabbed eight boards while Chandler Parsons posted 12 points in 22 minutes.
Although both teams committed nearly the same amount of turnovers with Memphis committing 12 and the Rockets 13, Houston scored 22 points off Grizzlies turnovers while Memphis only connected on 12 points off of the Rockets turnovers.
In his first start of his career, Sam Dekker led the Rockets with a career-high 30 points on 12-of-19 (.632) shooting and 6-of-11 (.545) from three-point range. James Harden recorded his 38th double-double of the season with 29 points and 10 assists in 34 minutes.
