Grizzlies 97 – HEAT 100 Game Recap

The Miami HEAT defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 100-97 Sunday night at American Airlines Arena. Chris Bosh led the way for the HEAT with 22 points.1. With Miami on a three-game losing streak, both Wade and Bosh saved their best for last and willed the HEAT to a comeback victory over the Grizzlies.Midway through the fourth, Bosh nailed a corner three and followed that up with an aggressive close-out on Marc Gasol to force an airball. On the very next possession, Bosh aggressively drove baseline for a reverse layup. While he made some huge plays down the stretch, Bosh was on-point throughout, shooting 7-of-10 for his 22 points.Wade, meanwhile, went off in the fourth quarter, where he scored eight of his 14 points. A nifty drive inside cut Memphis’ lead to 97-96. After a defensive stop, Wade then hit a mid-range jumper to put Miami up for good. The 33-year-old grabbed four boards and dished out two assists to go along with his 14 points against Memphis.2. While Deng played very well on both ends, his defensive energy in the third quarter helped Miami get back in the game. Late in the third, he drew a charge on Mario Chalmers and played the passing lanes shortly thereafter to create a transition opportunity. As a whole, the HEAT pushed tempo a bit more in a 15-8 run to close the quarter. In addition to his defensive prowess, Deng also fought hard on the glass and made timely cuts to the rack. He finished the game with 15 points and seven boards on 60 percent shooting.3. With the HEAT needing a little jolt of energy early on, Green came through in a big way. The vet knocked down a few threes and also converted some jumpers off the dribble on his way to a 10-point first half. His aggressive approach was important since Miami was missing two rotation players. However, his most vital play though came late in the fourth quarter when he got fouled on a corner three. Green knocked down all three free throws and Wade took it from there. In all, Green totaled 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting.Other Takeaways:-In addition to two clutch free throws at the end of the game, Justise Winslow hit some very big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to keep the HEAT moving in the right direction. Defensively, he was his usual scrappy self and tried to make things difficult for the Grizzlies. The rookie had eight points, three assists and two boards on the night.-Next up for Miami are the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night at Philips Arena.Game Notes: Tyler Johnson (shoulder strain) and Josh McRoberts (bruised knee) sat out. Jarnell Stokes (assigned to Sioux Falls) was also inactive.
