Gorgui Dieng: Agrees to four-year, $64 million extension

A first round draft pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Dieng had until midnight on Monday to finalize a deal with the Timberwolves, with the league’s contract extension deadline nearing. Dieng has steadily improved throughout his first four seasons and is currently averaging career bests across the board after just two games this season, posting averages of 13.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.5 blocks over 34.5 minutes per game. While it’s still early and his numbers are likely to drop a little bit, it’s a very encouraging start for Dieng, which only further helped his bid for an extension. Dieng will continue to offer multiple category production and will be a great play in fantasy leagues as a starter who is slated to see minutes in the 30’s on any given night.
