Gibson (ribs) has been shut down for the final two games of the season, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Gibson has missed the last six games with a cracked rib, and he had been considered unlikely to return during the regular season all along. The Bulls’ officially being eliminated from postseason contention Sunday all but sealed Gibson’s fate, and now rookie Bobby Portis and second-year forward Nikola Mirotic will be in line to see increased time in the frontcourt over the final two games. Chicago, which has also shut down Pau Gasol (knee) and E’Twaun Moore (hamstring), plays in New Orleans on Monday before finishing out at home against Philadelphia on Wednesday.
