Temple paced the reserves in scoring while faring better from the field than he had in the opener, when he’d managed only a 30 percent success rate over 24 minutes. Even more encouraging Thursday was Temple’s 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc, an area in which the 30-year-old will be expected to contribute when on the floor this season. The veteran is one of several new faces in the Kings backcourt, and his ability to play either guard spot while providing above-average defense should earn him a nice swath of playing time. Temple could also conceivably vault either or both Jordan Farmar and Ben McLemore, who currently sit above him on the point guard and shooting guard depth chart, respectively, with a strong preseason.
