Sixers End Summer League on a High Note

After being knocked out of the 24-team tournament by the Brooklyn Nets, the Sixers rebounded by beating the Miami Heat. The team finished with a 44-34 edge on the boards.

Four Sixers (Shawn Long, Ben Simmons, Richaun Holmes and Brandon Paul) finished with double-digit points.

Holmes Has a Night

Richaun Holmes, who saw significant playing time as a rookie, ended the summer league with another trong outing; the Bowling Green alum scored 14 points (5 for 6 from the field), and knocked down five of his seven free-throw attempts. The energetic Holmes also hauled in six rebounds.

Holmes’ trademark swatting ability was on clear display too, as the second-year forward ended the game with two blocks.

Simmons Shines in Summer League Finale

After sitting out of Philadelphia’s first two tournament games, rookie forward Ben Simmons had a great night on the floor. Simmons ended the summer league by recording his first double-double, after flirting with the accomplishment for the entirety of the summer league.

The LSU forward, who sat out of the Sixers’ first two tournament games, finished the game with 15 points (5-for-15 from the field), and 10 rebounds. Simmons’ passing ability was also on display, as the rookie Sixer ended the game with six assists (including one remarkable behind-the-back assist).

Simmons also added one block and two steals, rounding out his impressive night on the floor.

After a nine-point performance against the Nets, Long recorded a double-double against the Heat with an 8-for-13 shooting line. He ending the game with 18 total points and 10 rebounds.
