Game Recap: Sixers 70, Bulls 83

Wood Returns to Form

Christian Wood established himself as the most consistent member of the Sixers during the Utah league, playing in all three games and averaging 18.7 points. In Philadelphia’s first game in the Las Vegas summer league, though, the UNLV product managed just four points, while shooting 1-for-6 from the field.

Against Chicago, Wood totaled 13 points, shooting 4-for-9 from the field and was also perfect from the free-throw line, sinking all five of his attempts.

Grant and Stauskas Shine

Small forward Jerami Grant and shooting guard Nik Stauskas both put together productive nights against the Bulls.

Grant manufactured 10 points, while shooting 3-for-6 from the field, including a pair of corner 3s — a shot he’s been working on since entering the league. The third-year forward also added two rebounds, two assists, and three blocks.

“Sauce Castillo” was hot from the field during portions of the game, finishing the contest shooting 5-for-12 for 14 points. Stauskas also connected on a trio of three-pointers.

Sixer of the Game: Ben Simmons

Against the Bulls, Simmons attempted a career-high 11 jump shots.

He started off slow (2-for-5 from the field in the first half for six points) before finding the range on a stepback jumper late in the second quarter. Simmons gained momentum in the second half, scoring 12 points, and at one point ignited the Sixers to a 6-0 run.

By the end of the night, Simmons would compile a career-high 18 points (7-for-13 from the field), despite frequent double teams from Chicago defenders. Simmons added two assists and three rebounds, as well.
