Game Preview: Warriors v Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Oracle
Arena on Wednesday. The Timberwolves (7-3) have been one of the surprises of the
league, as they carry a season-long five-game winning streak into this matchup.
That’s the promise people have been hoping for from this team for years now, as
all of these pieces finally appear to be coming together. It’s the veteran
players that have really changed this team, with Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler and
Jamal Crawford all playing huge parts for their new team. That just gives
Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins a crutch to lean on, which is fantastic
for such a young core like the T’Wolves. The Warriors (8-3) have won
four-straight and seven of their last eight, as they are one of the only teams
in the NBA that are as hot as the T’Wolves. What’s really been clicking recently
is their defense, allowing just 93 points per game across their last three
games. That’s closer to the second-ranked defense they posted last season rather
than the 22nd ranked one they’ve posted this year and that’s all fans can ask
for from the top offense in the league. What’s really been an encouraging sign
is how well these superstars have gelled, as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are
both looking like legitimate MVP candidates. As long as they can stay healthy,
the Warriors will remain the cream of the crop. Golden State have dominated this
series over recent years, winning 10 of their last 12 games against Minnesota.
