The Oklahoma City Thunder keep their 1-0 Western Conference Finals series lead in Oakland on Wednesday night, facing the Golden State Warriors in Game 2.
The Thunder shocked the Warriors on their home court on Monday night, dropping the number one seed, 108-102. Oklahoma City was firing on all cylinders, coming off of a Semifinals ousting of the San Antonio Spurs and capping off Game 1 with four of their starters putting up double-doubles. The team was led in scoring by Russell Westbrook, who finished the night with 27 points, 12 assists and 7 steals, going 7 of 21 from the field and 11 of 14 from the free throw line. Westbrook tops the league in postseason assists, averaging 10.9 per outing. Kevin Durant posted a double-double of his own with 26 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 10 of 30 from field goal range and 5 of 7 from the charity stripe. Steven Adams recorded 16 points and 12 boards and Serge Ibaka contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds as Oklahoma City handed Golden State just their third loss at home all season.
The Warriors blew a double digit lead at halftime, despite a 26-point performance by Stephen Curry. The 2015-16 league MVP hauled in 10 rebounds, facilitated 7 assists and shot 6 of 14 from beyond the arc. Klay Thompson dropped 25 points, had 9 rebounds and 4 assists, going 11 of 25 from the paint and draining 3 triples, while Draymond Green finished with 23 points, struggling from long range, from where he missed all four of his shot attempts. The Golden State unit as a whole were uncharacteristically pedestrian from deep, shooting 36.7% from downtown, in contrast to their 41.6% average during the regular season. The defeat marked the team's first Game 1 Playoff loss since falling to the San Antonio Spurs in the first match-up of the 2013 Western Conference Semifinals.
