Game Preview: Can The Hot-Start Warriors Be The Ones To Slow Golden State?

The Detroit Pistons (5-1) will take on the Golden State Warriors (7-0) at Oracle Arena in Oakland on Monday.

The Detroit Pistons are having a fantastic season thus far and their performance on Sunday is indicative of the resiliency they have shown. Detroit was trailing by 13 points going into the fourth quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers and ended up outscoring Portland 41-11 to pull off a 17-point win in spectacular fashion. Reggie Jackson scored a career-high 40 points, while Andre Drummond put in another ridiculous 29 point-27 rebound line. That now give Drummond a 20-20 average for the season and he’s proving to be one of the best centers in the NBA at the ripe age of 22-years-old. The defense has been the big surprise though, as they currently rank top-five in points per game allowed.

The only team hotter than the Pistons right now are the NBA champion Warriors. Steph Curry has been even better this season than he was last year in his MVP campaign and this team is down right scary right now. They are currently leading the league with nearly 116 points per game and rank ninth in the league in points allowed, by allowing just 97 points per game. Their seven wins have come by a combined 128 points and they have room to improve, as starting center Andrew Bogut (concussion) could return for this game. The ceiling seems infinite for this team and a coveted 70-win season doesn’t seem to be a far stretch at this point.
