The New Orleans Pelicans will travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves on Friday at Target Center.
Just a couple weeks ago, the Pelicans (20-33) had the look of a team that was starting to turn the corner after victories over both the Cavaliers and the Spurs. That couldn’t have been farther from the case, though, as after their upset victory over San Antonio, New Orleans went on to lose five of their next six games, with their most recent loss by 33 points at home to the Jazz. They are currently tied for the third-worst record in the Western Conference with Friday’s opponent, the Timberwolves (20-33).
Those Timberwolves were going through some major struggles of their own, as they had lost four straight games before pulling off an impressive home victory over the Raptors on Wednesday. In that game, the team debut their newest signing, Lance Stephenson, who inked a 10-day contract with the team Tuesday. Stephenson recorded six points, four rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes Wednesday, and could end up being serving a legitimate role off the bench as the team continues to deal with backcourt injuries.
This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams, with the Pelicans winning the first game by 21 points.
