Game Preview: Timberwolves v Grizzlies

The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for their first win of the season as they play host to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night at Target Center.

The Timberwolves are coming off a tough loss to the Kings on Saturday, which caused coach Tom Thibodeau to feel that his guys need to toughen up. The Wolves came out with a great first two quarters but followed up with a dismal third quarter in which they were outscored by 18 points.

Andrew Wiggins led the way in scoring with 29 points, while Zach LaVine chipped in 21. However, the Timberwolves’ bench only provided 19 points. In both of their games so far this season, the Timberwolves have blown a double-digit lead. Ricky Rubio sprained his right elbow in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game. He did not practice on Monday but will be re-evaluated and is questionable to play Tuesday. After being held to only 15 points and six rebounds in his match-up with DeMarcus Cousins, Karl-Anthony Towns will have his hands full once again, this time with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.

Memphis is coming off a big win at home versus the Wizards, which was headlined by the superb three-point shooting of Marc Gasol. Gasol went 4-for-6 from long range, including a game-tying three that sent it to overtime, where the Grizz took care of business. Gasol finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds and was complemented by Mike Conley, who tallied 24 points and 11 assists. Zach Randolph added 22 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.

Chandler Parsons has yet to make his debut with the Grizz but is reportedly expected to return within a week or two. His addition should be a major boost and make this already-troublesome Grizzlies team even more dangerous.
