Game Preview: Spurs v Rockets

The San Antonio Spurs host state-rival Houston Rockets on Wednesday at AT&T Center, in the first game of a home-and-home series.

After winning four in a row to start the season, the Spurs (5-2) have lost two of their last three games; losing 106-91 at home last Tuesday versus the Jazz, but beating them on the other end of the home-and-home 100-86 in Utah on Friday, and most recently losing 116-92 at home versus the Clippers on Saturday, where Kawhi Leonard shot only 3-of-13 from the field on his way to 14 points and LaMarcus Aldridge was the high-point man with 19 points and six rebounds. Despite being very strong at home last season, the Spurs are 1-2 at home to start this season, with the Rockets on-deck as a dangerous opponent.

The Rockets (4-3) enter San Antonio for the fifth and final game of a season-high five-game road trip. They have won two of the four games played and will look to make it three-of-five with a win in San Antonio on Wednesday. In their last contest the Rockets defeated the Wizards 114-106, and were led by none other than James Harden, who finished with 32 points and 15 assists and joined Michael Jordan as the only other player to record at least 30 points and 10 assists in four-straight games. Harden could very well extend that streak as he is thriving at the point guard position. Ryan Anderson has been heating up and finished last game with 23 points on 5-of-8 shooting from deep, while Clint Capela was strong down low with 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks. A win for the Rockets in San Antonio would tie them with the Spurs in the early standings.
