The Minnesota Timberwolves enter Orlando on the second night of a back-to-back to face-off against the Magic at Amway Center on Wednesday.
The Timberwolves (1-5) are coming off a tough loss in Brooklyn, where they fell 119-110 to the Nets. Andrew Wiggins was a beast with 36 points, eight rebound and two assists, in 41 minutes, but it was not enough to stop the full team-effort of the Nets. Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points , seven rebounds and four assists, in the losing effort. Despite strong play from Wiggins and Towns, the Timberwolves have struggled to start the season, with only one win so far. Ricky Rubio will remain sidelined for Wednesday’s contest.
Despite a loss in their last game, the Magic (3-4) have been gelling as of late, winning three of their last four, and are beginning to look like a tough match-up with all their size. Their most recent contest resulted in a 112-80 loss in Chicago, where they struggled to score, with Serge Ibaka as the high-point man with 15. If the Magic have one short-coming, it might be their offense, which averaged only 93 points per game. However, they are a team built for defense so if they can nail that part of the game, then the rest will follow. They have held opponents below 101 points in their three wins.
