The Brooklyn Nets take on cross-town rival New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening.
The Nets (3-4) will be facing the second night of a back-to-back on Wednesday but started off on the right foot with a 119-110 home-victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. Brook Lopez led the way for the Nets, as he usually does, with 26 points. Trevor Booker continued his solid play with 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while Sean Kilpatrick added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, in 28 minutes off the bench. The Nets were missing Jeremy Lin, who remains out with a strained hamstring but had six players score in double figures in a full team effort. The Nets have been a bit of a surprise to start the season but have earned every inch of their success so far with hard work and are a threat to any opponent.
The Knicks (2-4) will look to earn their second home-win of the season against an opponent that they need to beat if they want to be taken seriously in the East. They have shown flashes this season, with a nice win against the Bulls last Friday but that was followed up with a home-loss against the Jazz on Sunday. The Knicks do have a lot of new faces and deserve more time before they are judged too harshly. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis both tallied 28 points, while Derrick Rose chipped in 18, in the loss versus the Jazz but those solid performances they were still out-done The Knicks will need to tighten the screws on defense as they look to bounce back from losing three of their last four games.
