The Sacramento Kings will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday at Golden 1 Center on Tuesday.
The Pelicans (0-7) stay in Northern California and are set for the second game of a back-to-back against the Kings (3-5). The frustrations are growing for New Orleans, as noted by superstar center Anthony Davis and head coach Alvin Gentry, following the fourth loss of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks. Since then, New Orleans has been dealt a brutal schedule, and the first game of their back-to-back was a 116-106 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The ten point defeat was capitalized by Stephen Curry’s record setting 13 three pointers made in a game, which drowned out another solid performance from Davis. Newcomer Archie Goodwin was available for Monday’s contest, but did not play.
The matchup will boast two of the best centers in the league going head-to-head. Through eight games, DeMarcus Cousins is having a stellar season behind 25.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks on 47.4 percent shooting from the field. The Kings are coming off a strong win against the Toronto Raptors, where Rudy Gay was able to find a rhythm. Gay finished with 23 points, five rebounds and one assist in the 96-91 road victory. Sacramento will need the shooters to find their stroke in this matchup to stretch the floor, as Cousins will have his hands full with the versatile Davis down low.
