Game Preview: Hawks v Nuggets

The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Denver Nuggets, at Philips Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Nuggets (23-28) are coming off a much-needed home win over the Mavericks, on Monday, as they remain in a tight battle for the eighth spot in the West, which they currently own. Unfortunately, for the Nuggets, they are dealing with a few injuries, including Danilo Gallinari (groin), who has already missed three games, and is expected to remain out for about 10 more days. Kenneth Faried (personal) missed the Nuggets’ last game, but is likely to be ready for action on Wednesday, while Emmanuel Mudiay (back) missed the last tilt and remains questionable for action on Wednesday. The Nuggets have lost two straight on the road, where they are 9-16 so far this season. They should be looking to improve their defense, as they allow opponents an average of 111.3 points per game, which is third-highest in the league.

Meanwhile, the Hawks (30-22) won two straight before falling 120-95 against the visiting Jazz on Monday, where the Jazz burned them by shooting 61 percent from the field, while the Hawks only managed to hit 45 percent. Paul Millsap struggled, hitting only 4-of-14 from the field on his way to 14 points, while Dennis Schroder led the way with 21. The Hawks have not been consistent at home recently, winning one and then losing one, while they are 15-11 at home so far this season. They hold on to the fifth spot in the East, with only a half-game lead over the sixth place Pacers, but are only a half-game behind the fourth-place Wizards. Thabo Sefolosha (groin) has missed four straight games and remains questionable for action on Wednesday.
