1) He becomes the 16th player on the Pelicans’ current roster. NBA rules allow a team only 15 roster players, but you can be granted an injury hardship exemption based on extenuating circumstances. New Orleans has had five-plus players miss recent games due to injury. On Saturday at Dallas, the Pelicans only had nine men in uniform.
2) This is Fredette’s second tour of duty with New Orleans, after appearing in 50 games last season. He finished with career lows in shooting, but rarely played in more than a handful of consecutive games.
3) The 6-foot-2 guard was signed by San Antonio during the offseason, but the Spurs waived him Oct. 21.
4) Despite an 18.8 percentage from three-point range in 2014-15, Fredette’s career accuracy rate is 38.1 percent. That ranks 34th among active NBA players, according to Basketball-Reference.com.
5) Fredette’s scoring exploits at BYU spawned “Jimmermania,” highlighted by a senior season in which he averaged 28.0 points per game. The Cougars reached the Sweet 16, coincidentally playing Fredette’s final college game in New Orleans.
