Kevin Durant has left the Oklahoma City Thunder’s game at the Washington Wizards at halftime with a strained left hamstring.
Durant is out for the game.
He had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the first half Tuesday, playing 17 minutes.
Durant was on the court at the end of the half; the injury was announced at the start of the third quarter.
Durant can become a free agent after this season, and the Wizards are among many teams expected to try to sign him. He was born in Washington and went to high school in nearby Rockville, Maryland.
He is a six-time All-Star and was the NBA MVP in the 2013-14 season.
Durant’s scoring mate Russell Westbrook also got to take some time off near the end of the game with the Thunder up big, but not before contributing a historic effort. According to Basketball-Reference, Westbrook logged a triple-double in 24 minutes of game action. Only Hassan Whiteside last season (14 points, 13 rebounds, 12 blocks In 25 minutes), Fat Lever in 1987 (11 points 10 assists, 10 rebounds in 25 minutes) and Westbrook in 2014 (13 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds in 20 minutes) have done that in 25 minutes or less since 1985-86.
