Williams had been listed as doubtful for the start of the road trip after failing to practice Monday, so it’s not surprising that he’ll sit out both halves of the back-to-back set. The Mavericks aren’t ruling out the possibility of Williams returning to action in the team’s following contest Nov. 14 against the Knicks, but he’ll need to show progress in his recovery from the left calf strain, as well as the groin issue that had plagued him earlier this season. In the meantime, expect J.J. Barea, who started at point guard in Sunday’s overtime win over the Bucks, to handle the bulk of the duties at the position, with Seth Curry settling in as his top backup.
