Cavs starters couldn't survive a half together, team loses 96-91 to Wizards Author: Joe Vardon Publication: Cleveland.com
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Cavs got the band back together for all of about 16 minutes this preseason.
That's approximately how long all five starters from Cleveland's 2016 NBA championship team were in uniform together for a game, thanks to J.R. Smith's signing of a four-year, $57 million deal Saturday.
It was supposed to be coach Tyronn Lue's first and only chance to use the Cavs' main players as a true dress rehearsal for the upcoming season. Instead, it turned into a 96-91 loss to the Washington Wizards at Ohio State's Schottenstein Center. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
LeBron James said the Cavs are 'uptight,' even if they don't show it Author: Joe Vardon Publication: Cleveland.com
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Of course you've seen the Cavaliers clowning around at the Indians' playoff games.
The hugs, the dancing, the Tribe-jersey wearing LeBron James, Kevin Love, and J.R. Smith with the rest of the team, up in the suite at Progressive Field with cups in their hands, or down on the infield addressing screaming Cleveland fans before an Indians playoff game.
Those scenes have been splattered all over TVs across America for the past couple weeks, shared more times than you can count on YouTube and social media. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
Waiting for LeBron: Terry Pluto book excerpt from 'The Comeback: LeBron, the Cavs & Cleveland' Author: Terry Pluto Publication: Cleveland.com
In his new book “The Comeback: LeBron, the Cavs & Cleveland” (paperback $15.95, 251 pages, 30 color photos; ebook $9.99), Terry Pluto details one of the greatest stories in Cleveland sports history: LeBron James's return to Cleveland and the Cavaliers' unprecedented come-from-behind NBA championship. This excerpt, the second in a series, describes the tense time while Cavs owner Dan Gilbert waits to learn whether LeBron will choose to return to Cleveland or go elsewhere.
Dan Gilbert was worried.
The man who started a mortgage company called Quicken Loans hates to wait. And he hates to feel that everything is not in control.
But it can be argued that Gilbert had been waiting for four years for a chance to bring LeBron James back to Cleveland, four years to “make this right,” as the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers characterized his relationship with LeBron between 2010 and 2014. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
