Tyronn Lue not affected by criticisms he’s received from David Blatt supporters Author: Chris Haynes Publication: Cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Out of the woodwork, David Blatt has found an abundance of boisterous supporters following his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The newfound Blatt backers appear to be individuals irked by his firing after compiling an 83-40 record in a season and a half, getting within two wins of an NBA title and coaching a team sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings.
Regardless whether Blatt was the best candidate for this particular team, some people are still outraged over the handling of the situation. Which, of course, is entirely fair. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
Cleveland Cavaliers scribbles about the demands of coach Tyronn Lue in the middle of a season — Terry Pluto (photos) Author: Terry Pluto Publication: Cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Scribbles in my Cleveland Cavaliers notebook after nine games of Tyronn Lue’s tenure:
1. “We’ve gotta’ get in better shape.” Lue said that not once, but twice following his team’s 99-84 victory over New Orleans. It’s been a theme since he took over for David Blatt, who was fired on Jan. 22 with a 30-11 record. I was shocked to hear him say it back then, and it’s still a surprise.
2. I began covering the NBA full-time in 1985 when George Karl was coaching the Cavs, and remained on the beat through 1993. As a columnist, I’ve still paid close attention to the Cavs. That covers 30 years, and I have never heard a coach talk nearly as much about the need to get in shape during the season as we’ve heard in the last two weeks. – CLICK HERE to read full story.

Cavaliers enter All-Star week debating rest vs. work Author: Jason Lloyd Publication: Akron Beacon Journal
CLEVELAND: The Cavaliers are in a precarious position as they enter the All-Star break this week: They’re tired because they’re not in shape, so they need to rest. But they need to get in shape and they can’t get in shape if they’re resting.
Confused yet?
There are those within the organization who believe part of the reason they haven’t embraced coach Tyronn Lue’s offense yet is because they’re tired after what has been a difficult first half. It has included a coaching change, a change in style and a new set of plays to learn.
Lue wants to play faster. He wants guys to run. But as they get tired, they’re walking and falling back into old habits. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
First-place Cleveland Cavaliers still not playing at level Coach Tyronn Lue envisions Author: Jeff Schudel Publication: The News-Herald
Keep recalling the words of general manager David Griffin when he fired David Blatt as head coach on Jan. 22 with the Cavaliers leading the NBA East with a 30-11 record:
“Things might get worse before they get better,” Griffin said.
There have been flashes of sustained improvement, as when the Cavs drilled the San Antonio Spurs, 117-103, on Jan. 30. But the team still isn’t where Blatt’s replacement, Tyronn Lue, wants it to be.
The next chance to trot out the new and improved Cavaliers comes at 7 p.m. Feb. 8, when they host the Sacramento Kings at Quicken Loans Arena. The Kings are 22-29. The Cavs are 36-14 and remain atop the East by two games over the Toronto Raptors. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
Kings-Cavaliers Preview Author: Brett Huston – Associated Press Publication: SI.com
If there’s any team that can relate to rumors of a coach being on the hot seat currently circling the Sacramento Kings, it’s the Cleveland Cavaliers.
If there’s a coach who can take the heat, it’s probably George Karl.
The Kings try to avoid an eighth loss in nine games Monday night in Cleveland, where Karl was fired long ago by a Cavaliers organization that’s still finding its footing after its latest coaching change.
Reports emerged after Sacramento’s 128-119 loss at Brooklyn on Friday that Karl might be dismissed before the All-Star break, a fate that wouldn’t be unfamiliar for a coach who’s been let go by Cleveland, Golden State, Milwaukee and Denver over a nearly four-decade career on the sidelines. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
