Paul will forgo the final year of his current deal with the Clippers, which is
worth over $24 million, to hit the open market when free agency starts July 1st.
While Paul is waiting for the final day possible to officially declare his
intention, star forward Blake Griffin opted out of his final year on Friday. As
a result, Los Angeles’ two best players will be free to field offers from around
this league next month, leaving the franchise with a humungous offseason ahead.
At 32 years old, Paul averaged 18.1 points, 9.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0
steals and 2.0 three-pointers while shooting 41.1 percent from deep in 61
appearances this season.
