It was a test of both memory and skills for students from Constellation Schools’ Stockyard Community Middle School on Tuesday. Twenty eighth graders took the challenge head-on, learning about the early days of the sport of basketball and then putting that knowledge to use on the court.
The Cleveland-area students joined Cavs PA announcer Olivier for a history lesson of the game, dating all the way back to the peach basket days of the sport. The group then split up into two teams, one led by Assistant Coach Phil Handy and the other by Assistant Coach Bret Brielmaier.
The teams competed against each other in a basketball relay race, where they had to answer questions based on the basketball history, as well as complete drills like dribbling and free throws.
After a Q & A with the coaches and a group photo, the students left with a better knowledge of the game they cheer for at The Q.
