The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 124-119, at Quicken Loans
Arena on Tuesday night. The clash of two of the NBA’s most complete players in
Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James was every bit as good as anticipated, as
both players put together standout efforts. However, James got some significant
help for a change, as Kevin Love fought off a recent illness to put together a
32-point, 16-rebound double-double that also included three assists, two steals
and one block. As expected, both teams kept the scoreboard operator busy, with
the Bucks (4-6) posting a 56.6 percent success rate from the field, including
43.3 percent from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers (5-6) drained 50.0
percent of their 82 total shot attempts, and matched that tally on their 18
tries from behind the arc. Antetokounmpo led the way for Milwaukee with 40
points, nine rebounds, three assists and four blocks before fouling out late in
the fourth quarter. Malcolm Brogdon followed with 22 points, six assists, five
rebounds and one block. Khris Middleton provided 20 points, 11 assists, seven
rebounds and three steals. Tony Snell and John Henson only tallied eight and
seven points, respectively, but Mirza Teletovic helped make up for the downturn
with a bench-leading 16 points. James was right behind Love with 30 points, nine
assists, eight rebounds and three steals. J.R. Smith had the hot hand, posting
20 points on 7-for-12 shooting and adding one rebound and one steal. Derrick
Rose supplied 10 points, two assists and one rebound. Dwyane Wade registered 10
points of his own to lead the bench and supplemented them with three assists,
three rebounds, two blocks and one steal. The Bucks continue on their road trip,
with the next stop in San Antonio to do battle with the Spurs on Friday night.
The Cavaliers head to the Lone Star State as well to tangle with the Houston
Rockets on Thursday evening.
