The visiting Cleveland Cavaliers blew out the Boston Celtics, 130-86, in Game 2
of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday. Cleveland (2-0) grabbed the largest
first-half advantage in league history on Friday, jumping out to a 72-31 lead by
the end of the second quarter. The dominance was nothing new for the reigning
champions, who are now 10-0 in the playoffs this year and are on a 13-game
playoff win streak dating back to last season’s finals. On Friday, everything
seemed to be clicking for the team, starting with the strong play of legendary
superstar LeBron James. James had 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting along with
seven assists. Fellow All-Star forward Kevin Love scored an additional 21 points
to go with 12 rebounds. As a team, Cleveland had 19 three-pointers and shot over
56 percent from the field. Boston (0-2), meanwhile, posted a dismal line on both
ends of the floor. The team shot just 37 percent from the floor and hit only
eight three-pointers. Cleveland’s size and physicality proved to be an issue for
the small-ball Celtics defensively, as there was simply no containing the star
duo of LeBron James and Kevin Love. For the Celtics, their own star players
simply fell flat. All-NBA guard Isaiah Thomas had just two points in 17 minutes
before exiting the game with an injury. Al Horford, meanwhile, had 11 points on
4-of-9 shooting but pulled down just five rebounds on the night. Game 3 will be
in Cleveland on Sunday.
