Casspi’s Career Night Not Enough

Looking for a bounce back win against the 28-1 Golden State Warriors, the Kings used a 16-4 run – led by Rudy Gay‘s 11 points – to end the first quarter and take a two-point lead.

The story of the game, however, came in the second quarter as Stephen Curry and Omri Casspi combined for 38 points in the frame, 29 of which came consecutively as the two battled in the half’s final 3 minutes.

The shootout between Curry and Casspi led to a 61-58 Kings lead after two quarters of play.

Following DeMarcus Cousins‘ ejection after receiving two technicals in the opening minutes of the second half, Golden State went on a 15-0 run that would prove to close the door on the Kings chances at winning for the first time in Oakland since the 2012-13 season.

  • Casspi’s seven first half threes marked the most in one half in franchise history. No. 18’s nine total treys tied Mike Bibby for the franchise record for most three-pointers in a game. In total, he scored a career-high 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting.
  • Quincy Acy tied a career-high with three blocks. Acy finished the night with eight points and 10 rebounds.
  • Darren Collison recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.
