Both teams shot around 38 percent from the field which made for a choppy game in which all the hustle plays really count and any extra posession could mean the difference between win and lose.
Almost everyone who got on the floor for the Bulls contributed offensively with four players scoring in double digits and five other players with six or more points. The big men led the Bulls' scoring as Pau Gasol had 16 points and eight rebounds, while Nikola Mirotic also had 16 points. Jimmy Butler did it all this game scoring 14 points, grabbing four rebounds, five assists and four steals. Derrick Rose did little scoring but dished a strong eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds. Joakim Noah seemed to ok with his new role off the bench, providing an energetic nine rebounds, one steal, one block and four assists. The Bulls were missing Mike Dunleavy and Kirk Hinrich.
The young and quick Orlando Magic could not find the mojo to squeeze out the win versus the tough Bulls. The Magic, like the Bulls did not shoot a good percentage as a team but still saw good performances from their young up and comers. Evan Fournier had a good game scoring 19 points on 8-15 shooting, along with five rebounds. Nikola Vucevic continued his good work for the Magic with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Youngster Tobias Harris is looking to have a break out season and played well Sunday night tallying 11 points and seven rebounds. The Magic really lacked production from their bench and will need more from players like Aaron Gordon and Shabazz Napier if they hope to have any success this season.
Up next for the Magic is a date with New Orleans on Tuesday, while the Bulls will also get back into action on Tuesday versus the Charlotte Hornets.
