After propelling the Wizards to an overtime win over the Kings one night earlier
with a game-high 38 points to go with 10 boards, Beal took more of a back seat
to backcourt mate John Wall (39 points) in the second half of the back-to-back
set. Even while doing so, Beal managed to surpass his season average in scoring,
which now sits at a robust 23.2 points per game. Beal’s talent as a scorer and
outside shooter has never been in doubt, and with the 23-year-old mostly
steering clear of the injury woes that plagued him in his first four years in
the league, he’s come through with a breakout campaign in 2016-17.
