From waiting his turn to being a featured part of NBA All-Star Weekend, Devin Booker’s rookie season has been a blur of rapid progress.
The 19-year-old rookie will participate in two of the signature events that mark the midseason classic, which is being helt on Toronto this year. On Friday, he will play for the U.S. Team in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. He was added as a replacement for injured Philadelphia big man Nerlens Noel. The game features the best first and second-year players in the league, including a pair of Booker’s former college teammates in Karl-Anthony Towns and Trey Lyles
Twenty-four hours after that, Booker will put his renowned jump shot to the test in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. The Suns guard will be the youngest participant in the history of the contest, which boasts some of the best shooters in league history. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of Golden State, JJ Redick of the L.A. Clippers and Houston’s James Harden highlight the eight-player field.
Fresh off the plane and a subsequent photo shoot for All-Star participants, Booker answered questions from media members covering the event. The full interview can be seen on the Periscope video taken by Suns.com.
