Boogie & Rondo Lead Kings to Victory

Monster games from DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo helped the Kings earn their second-consecutive victory on Friday night in Sacramento. Rondo recorded his second-straight triple-double, becoming the first Kings player in the Sacramento era to earn three triple-doubles in four games.

“I kind of get caught up watching him play. It’s just amazing to be able to watch his efforts on a nightly basis,” said Boogie.

Meanwhile, despite a 1-for-10 start, DMC caught fire in the third quarter, scoring 19-consecutive points and ending the night one point shy of his career-high with 40.

The big man was unstoppable and showed his versatility throughout the third quarter burst by knocking down threes, utilizing post moves and even throwing down a poster dunk on Brook Lopez.

DMC Scores 19-Straight Points vs Nets

Sactown started the first half slowly, but a late second quarter rally from Ben McLemore and Marco Belinelli brought the purple and black to within six. From then on, inspired play by Cousins, Rondo and the squad allowed the team to take a lead they wouldn’t lose.

  • McLemore had a season-high 15 points and played alongside Belinelli well. The two found each other several times for open three-point attempts.
  • Willie Cauley-Stein scored just one point, but made a crucial game-winning play as he tipped Brooklyn’s inbound pass with 1.1 seconds remaining to seal the win.
  • Quincy Acy’s impact went far beyond the points column, as exemplified by his team-high +13 court rating.

The Kings will look to end their six-game homestand with a third-consecutive win as they face the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
