Blazers visit Warriors in guard duel by the bay

Continuing a three-game road trip, the Portland Trail Blazers (13-15) visit Oakland to face the Golden State Warriors (23-4) Saturday night at Oracle Arena. The Blazers and Warriors have met once prior this season, a 127-104 Golden State victory in Portland on November 1.

Trail Blazers guard and Oakland native Damian Lillard averaged 36.5 points over four games versus his hometown team last season, highlighted by a career-high 51 points in a 137-105 win at Moda Center in February. Boasting the NBA’s highest scoring guard tandem with an average of 50.1 points per game this season, Lillard’s backcourt running mate CJ McCollum is averaging 23.1 points in December while 50.7% from the field and 53.3% from beyond the three-point line.

Golden State enters Saturday’s meeting with two of the NBA’s top scorers in Kevin Durant (25.5 ppg) and Stephen Curry (24.9 ppg), leading their team to a league-best 117.3 points per game. The Warriors have won seven of their last eight games, dating back to December 3.
