Blazers face Clippers with sights on fourth straight win

On the second night of back-to-back, the Portland Trail Blazers (5-3) visit the LA Clippers (6-1) Wednesday night at STAPLES Center. The Blazers’ stop in Los Angeles comes following a 124-121 win over the Phoenix Suns Tuesday in Portland and a pair of victories in Dallas and Memphis over the weekend.

Against the Suns, guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 71 points. Entering Wednesday’s matchup, the duo’s 55.7 points per game is highest of any teammate combination in the NBA, narrowly edging Golden State’s average 55.3 points from Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Fellow starters Maurice Harkless and Mason Plumlee are also averaging career highs through the first eight games of the season with 12 and 9.8 points per game, respectively.

Like Portland, the Clippers take the court on Wednesday riding three straight wins. Head coach Doc Rivers’ squad picked up road wins at Memphis and San Antonio before beating Detroit on Monday in Los Angeles. Point guard Chris Paul and forward Blake Griffin lead the team with 19.3 points per game each.
