After an MRI revealed the injury during the first round of the playoffs, Griffin
was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the postseason. He’s now officially
underwent surgery on the toe, but the Clippers have yet to give any sort of
concrete timetable for a return, although according to Bill Oram of the Orange
County Register, Griffin should be ready to go by the preseason schedule.
Griffin is expected to opt out of his $21.4 million player option for the
2017-18 season, which would make him an unrestricted free agent this summer. The
Clippers will be able to offer Griffin the most money on a max deal, but it
remains to be seen if that will be enough to retain his services. Look for
additional updates on Griffin’s toe throughout the offseason.
