New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis was forced to miss the final 14 games of the 2015-16 season after he suffered a left knee injury that required offseason surgery.
Heading into today’s preseason matchup with the Houston Rockets in Beijing, China, Davis had appeared in three games, averaging 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 17.8 minutes per game.
Davis, however, left today’s game against the Rockets after just six minutes of play after suffering a sprained right ankle.

New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis played only six minutes in Wednesday’s preseason game against the Houston Rockets in Beijing before he was forced out of the game with a sprained right ankle injury.
Davis suffered the injury after stepping on the foot of Rockets’ center Nene on a post move. It’s another injury setback for Davis, whose underwent season-ending surgery in March to fix a stress reaction problem in his left knee cap. Davis also suffered a torn labrum last season, but he did not require surgery on his left shoulder.
Davis made 1-of-5 shots from the field for two points before the injury occurred.
Throughout training camp and into the preseason, the Pelicans monitored Davis’ workload so he could avoid any possible injury setbacks before they open the regular season on Oct. 26 against the Denver Nuggets at the Smoothie King Center.
Davis wasn’t the only player to suffer an injury in this preseason game as Pelicans reserve guard E’Twaun Moore (right heel contusion) and Rockets reserve guard Pablo Prigioni (left shoulder strain) both left early, too.
