Sioux Falls, SD, September 22 – The Miami HEAT announced today that Anthony Carter will be joining Skyforce Head Coach Nevada Smith as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. Carter will also be present at Smith's introductory press conference at the Sanford Pentagon on Friday at 2:00 PM.
Carter joins the Skyforce coaching staff after serving as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings during the 2015-16 season. Prior to his time with the Kings, Carter was an assistant coach for the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League for two seasons, helping them to a 32-18 record in his second season with the team, good enough for first place in their division.
Carter, a 14-year NBA veteran, played for six different franchises including the Miami HEAT, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. He appeared in 623 career NBA games (181 starts) and averaged 4.8 points, 3.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds. Additionally, he made the playoffs in seven of his 14 seasons, appearing in 39 career postseason games (five starts) averaging 4.5 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds.
