Day two of Americas Team Camp presented by Nike 2016 began with a lot of positive yelling and hollering from camp coaches as well as plenty of interaction and energy that pushed campers to focus on learning. Today, campers were broken down by position and ran through drills covering skills specific to where they play on the floor.
“It has been intense, but it has also been great to learn from NBA players and coaches and play among the best talent out there. I feel like this camp gives me a leg up to reach the highest level of play so one day I get the chance to play in the NBA,” said Mexican camper Salvador Martinez, 17.
From skills clinics to team concept practices focused on building their team offense and defense, campers did it all just before the competition sessions in the late afternoon.
“There is talent here, and what an opportunity the NBA offers these young players with a camp like this. Having been on their position once, it is important to convey to them that the dream is possible for those who work hard,” said camp coach Danilo Gallinari of the Denver Nuggets.
The day ends with adrenaline running high as Teams Brazil and Canada take the lead on the Americas Team Camp’s 5vs5 championship tournament. Who will win? Find out in the next couple of days.
