The campers were up bright and early for day three of Americas Team Camp presented by Nike 2016. First thing on their agenda was the final round of the camp’s shooting competition, which was scored cumulatively over the first three days of camp. It was a close one, but team Argentina pulled together for the win.
Positional skills development stations and team practices continued later in the morning revolving around core basketball skills.
“My game has grown so much in these past short days. I love to compete, but perfecting my skills and learning from such an amazing group of NBA players and coaches have been my favorite parts,” said Brazilian camper Pedro Barros Nunes, 16.
Americas Team Camp’s 5vs5 championship tournament highlighted the afternoon as the competition got underway. In tomorrow’s semifinals, team Brazil (#1 seed) will face team Mexico (#4 seed), while team Canada (#2 seed) will take on team Argentina (#3 seed). Semifinal winners will meet in the finals, with the other two teams playing for the 3rd place.
Later in the afternoon, coaches from CONADE (the Mexican government’s sport ministry) were invited to participate in a Coaches Clinic led by camp coach Don Showalter from USAB, along with team Canada. The clinic focused on key basketball skills and provided participating coaches an insight to USAB/NBA training techniques.
