2018 BWB Global Camp Day 2 Recap

After watching Team World defeat Team USA 155-124 in the Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars, the campers returned to the Lakers’ Practice Facility on Saturday for Day 2 of the fourth annual Basketball Without Borders Global Camp. The campers were joined by Timofey Mozgov (Brooklyn Nets; Russia) who spoke with the campers before the oncourt activity tipped off. The boys started the day with combine drills and movement efficiency training, while the girls took the court for positional development and skills training.

The afternoon started with shooting competitions before the campers were split into groups for team practice. Team coaches included five-time NBA Champion Derek Fisher, Current NBA assistant coaches John Bryant (Philadelphia 76ers), Ed Pinckney (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jonah Herscu (Los Angeles Lakers) and former NBA Champion head coach Paul Westhead. Following practice, the teams battled in a series of competitive five-on-five games in front of league and team personnel as well as media from around the world. The camp closed with a meditation and mental imagery session led by former NBA player Adonal Foyle (St. Vincent and the Grenadines).

For the first time in BWB history, portions of this year’s camp were live-streamed on the NBA’s Facebook page and FIBA’s Facebook page for the second straight day.

The campers will conclude the day at State Farm All-Star Saturday Night and will return tomorrow for the third and final day of camp starting at 9:15 am. Please find photos from today’s camp here.
