The NBA and FIBA tipped-off the fourth-annual Basketball without Borders Global Camp this morning at the Lakers’ Practice Facility in El Segundo, California. Sixty-seven of the top high-school age boys and girls from 36 countries and territories took the court and had the opportunity to learn from five-time NBA All-Star Al Horford (Boston Celtics; Dominican Republic) and 2018 NBA All-Star Goran Dragic (Miami Heat; Slovenia), former NBA players Acie Law (U.S.), Bostjan Nachbar (Slovenia), Cherokee Parks (U.S.), former WNBA player Michele Van Gorp (U.S.) and USA Basketball coach Don Showalter, among others.
The campers began the day with combine drills and movement efficiency training before breaking into shooting competitions and positional skill development. The on-court portion of the day concluded with five on five games before a life skills session led by former NBA player Adonal Foyle (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), along with WNBA player Stefanie Dolson (Chicago Sky; U.S.), former NBA players Tiago Splitter (Brazil), Pops Mensah-Bonsu (England) and former WNBA player Ruth Riley (U.S.).
The campers concluded their day at the 2018 Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars tonight at Staples Center, which will feature five-former BWB campers: Joel Embiid (Cameroon; BWB Africa 2011), Lauri Markkanen (Finland; BWB Europe 2014/ BWB Global 2015), Jamal Murray (Canada; BWB Global 2015), Dario Saric (Croatia; BWB Europe 2010), Frank Ntilikina (BWB Europe 2015/ BWB Global 2016)
